About Vincent Van Gogh Piatnik Jigsaw Puzzle – 1000 Pieces – The Bedroom (1888)
This exclusive Vincent Van Gogh Piatnik Jigsaw Puzzle includes 1000 pieces featuring the Dutch Post-impressionist artist’s work “The Bedroom in Arles” (1888). Currently found at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Vincent Van Gogh during his stay in Arles, he decided to produce a painting of his bedroom at the Yellow House. Van Gogh intentionally meant to use bright colors to express absolute repose or sleep. Researchers discovered that the strong contrasting colors on the work today, have changed through time due to discoloration throughout the years. For instance, the walls and door were originally purple, rather than blue. On the other hand, the odd angle of the rear wall in the painting was accurately depicted as it was in real life – the corner was actually skewed. Ukiyo-e Japanese prints by artists such as Hiroshige or Hokusai influenced the intentional lack of accuracy in the visual perspective of the room and in the “flattening” of the interior’s surfaces. Van Gogh acknowledged the influence of Japanese prints in the flattening of the room’s interior in a letter he wrote to his brother Theo. Van Gogh himself commented on his work The Bedroom, “When I saw my canvases again after my illness, what seemed to me the best was The Bedroom.” More details on Vincent Van Gogh Piatnik Jigsaw Puzzle – 1000 Pieces – The Bedroom (1888):
