More About Mondrian
Mondrian went through different phases in his career and in his life. Initially, he painted classic landscapes with a realist style and detailed portraits with numerous elements. As he was perfecting his own style and true expression, he was enlightened by straight-lined forms and primary colors to express true beauty. He re-found himself in a painting style based on geometric shapes and basic colors (red, blue, yellow, gray, black and white). He influenced the creation of the De Stijl art movement at the peak of his artistic career. Later, he eventually became famous for his colorful compositions that still have a real impact on Modern Art. He chose to minimize his style and remove all unnecessary addition and artifacts. In his quest for realization of true aesthetics, he started to work on compositions only built with primary colors and geometric straight lines. This new simple and pure approach were to him the best representation of beauty.
