About the golden gnome
This bearded golden gnome is making the victory sign. The statue is standing with his right arm stretched in front of him. German artist Ottmar Hörl created the golden gnome sculpture in 2012. He came up with this gnome as a response to the regular riots instigated by hooligans after the football games. The Victory Gnome pictures a communicative impulse as well as a supporters’ trophy for peaceful interaction.
All our gnomes are either for indoor or outdoor use and come with a Hörl Certificate of Authentification engraved at the bottom.

ABOUT THE VICTORY SIGN
The Victory sign has two formats: one with the palm faced outwards and another one with the palm inwards. Generally considered a “Victory” sign, it can also involve meanings of “Defiance.” The V-sign has various interpretations, depending on the cultural context. For instance, in the US, both ways refer to “Victory” and peace. In other places, the same gesture with the back of the hand facing the other person is highly disrespectful. Prime Minister Winston Churchill referred approvingly to the V for Victory campaign in a speech, from which point he started using the V hand sign.
