About The Skateroom x Andy Warhol – Campbell’s Soup Skateboard – Purple
Among the most iconic works in modern art, Warhol’s 32 Campbell’s Soup Cans paintings took various forms, including a 1965 series comprised of 19 different colored cans. For these works, Warhol not only used ink colors that departed from real colors, but also spray painted the backgrounds and the lower (white) portion of the label in different colors. The result was a collection that was both unexpected and familiar. These groundbreaking works are the inspiration for this series of skate decks, where each color has been produced in a limited edition of 5,000.
This exclusive skate deck made in collaboration between The Skateroom and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts mix the energies of underground culture and legendary artists. The Skateroom is a platform for promoting, selling and producing art on skateboards that supports youth-empowering organizations. About Andy Warhol
Easily one of the most recognizable and influential artists of the second half of the twentieth century, Andy Warhol created some of the most easily popular pieces of art ever produced. Challenging idealism and personal emotions conveyed by not only the abstractionist movements but by previous, more historical movements, Warhol embraced popular culture and was one of the founding fathers of the Pop Art movement. Art was never really thought of as a popular consumer product before Warhol, and he opened the world up to mass-production and mass-appeal.
