Rodin’s sculpting techniques
Rodin’s method used to make large sculptures was counting on assistant sculptors to replicate a smaller model he produced from a clay which was easier to work with than marble. Once his assistance had carved, the artist would put the finishing touches on the larger version. The gigantic marble statue of The Kiss by Rodin is one of three full-scale statues made in Rodin “lifetime.
