Le Rêve (French, “The Dream”) is a 1932 oil painting by Pablo Picasso, by then 50 years old, delineating his 22-year-old Marie-Thérèse Walter. It is said to have been painted in one evening, on 24 January 1932. It has a place with Picasso’s time of twisted portrayals, with its distorted systems and separating tints looking like early Fauvism. The erotic substance crafted by the painter has been commented on and on, with pundits pointing out that Picasso painted an erect penis, most likely symbolizing his own, in the upturned face of his model.
About Picasso and Marie-Thérèse Walter
Picasso’s clandestine love with Marie-Thérèse Walter, while he was married to the Russian ballerina Olga Khokhlova, breathed life into a champion among the most radical changes to his work. That night of 1927, the 45-year-old father was charmed by the 17-year-old young woman who he saw moving around alone on one of Paris’ avenues. He was in a glimmer enamored by her, and for the next nine years, she was to be the painter most noticeable love and inspiration.
