About the Non-conformist Gnome
This non-conformist gnome features a traditional garden helper who rebels. While having his left hand in the pocket, the non-conformist gnome raised his middle finger with his right hand. Hörl gave the garden gnome a sense of not obeying personality as he smiles when making the F gesture. Sculptor edited the non-conformist gnome in blue first for Rolling Change” installation in Seligenstadt (1994), Germany. Now the gnome exists in a range of flashy colors.
The iconic non-conformist gnome comes with Artist signature engraved at the bottom at the back of its left foot. It is also suitable for indoor or outdoor use.

About the installation
The non-conformist Gnome by Ottmar Hörl originally formed part of a 1994 Seligenstadt installation where he distributed 1000 blue garden gnomes all across the city. They were then left to themselves. Then, they remained until someone took them or moved them. As a consequence, the total population of gnomes slowly disappeared, exactly as Hörl projected. Following Hörl, as the project belongs to the public, there is no change of ownership in the real meaning of the word. Removing the object is just a move from one position to another in the sense of the “Rolling Change”.
After Seligenstadt, the blue gnome installation went to the Art Amsterdam – Art Rai (2006) and then the Maisenbacher Art Gallery Trier in Berlin.
