About Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was an extraordinarily creative, introspective and individualistic Mexican artist known for her self-portraits. She was born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón on July 6, 1907 and died as Frida Kahlo de Rivera on July 13, 1954. She drew inspiration from her chaotic marriage with Mexican popular artist Diego Rivera and her constant health recovery problems. Through her authentic artwork aesthetic, she helped to build up a united National identity for the post-revolutionary Mexico. Kahlo will hold a unique place in the artistic landscape for her deeply personal bulk of artworks which inspired a nation and countless artists.
