About Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was born Magdalena Carmen Frieda Kahlo y Calderón on July 6, 1907 and died as Frida Kahlo de Rivera on July 13, 1954. She certainly was a feminist icon and Mexican artist known for her self-portraits as her own signature style. Frida consequently started to paint to ward off her tumultuous marriage with Diego Rivera (Mexican popular artist) and her lifelong health recovery problems. Furthermore, through the unflinching truth in her work aesthetic, she spoke to a nation in a time that the post-revolutionary Mexico was looking for its Mexican self-identity. Finally, Kahlo will remain one of the greatest artists of all time for her highly personal work which led a nation and countless artists.
